We Are All Essential
With the entire world social-distancing, and large portions of the country shutting down except for critical services, few people were untouched by the wave of repercussions from COVID-19.
To escape the confines of self-quarantine, I quickly saw a dramatic rise in walking, jogging, and biking around the neighborhood. In an effort to lift spirits, I designed this pop-up mural and installed it in the front lawn of my home as a bit of surprise-and-delight for people passing by.
The reception was overwhelmingly positive with a number of grateful messages, both in response to the desire for more public art and the resonance for the message. Throughout the pop-up mural’s shelf life, there was a noticeable increase in foot and vehicle traffic to see the installation and share the message with friends.
